Why the frequency inverter needs brake resistor?

Brake resistor is used for consuming the electric motor's regenerative energy as heat, which comprises of two important parameters: resistance and power capacity.

Usually there are two kinds of resistors for frequency inverter: the ripple resistor and aluminum resistance:
The ripple resistor use surface vertical corrugated resistance beneficial cooling to reduce parasitic inductance, and select high inorganic flame retardant coating, it's effective protection of the resistance wire is not aging and extend the service life;
The aluminum resistance easy close-fitting, easy to attach the heat sink, good appearance, high heat dissipation aluminum alloy outer box full encapsulation structure, strong vibration weather resistance and long-term stability; small size, high power, solid, easy installation, beautiful appearance, widely used in harsh industrial environments.
